ThPA S.A.: 2 New Panamax STS cranes arrived at the Port of Thessaloniki

Two new specifically designed New Panamax STS Cranes with lifting capability of 65 tons and 50 tons in twin-lift mode and in single-lift mode, respectively, arrived at present on the Port of Thessaloniki. With the arrival of the brand new tools, the Container Terminal of the Port of Thessaloniki now has 6 STS cranes.

The brand new STS cranes allow the Port of Thessaloniki to immediately serve primary liner vessels, with a capability of over 10,000 TEU (New Panamax) and contribute considerably to attracting new traces. Together with the growth of Pier 6, the set up of extra STS cranes on the Container Terminal is deliberate, additional enhancing the function of Thessaloniki as an essential gateway for commerce between Asia and Southeast and Central Europe.

“With the two new specifically designed New Panamax STS cranes for the Port of Thessaloniki, with a complete worth of €15.7 mil. , greater than 80% of the corporate’s Obligatory Investments in tools is accomplished” burdened the Government Chairman of the BoD of ThPA S.A., Thanos Liagkos.

The brand new tools considerably upgrades the providers offered by the port, optimizes the container dealing with service ranges, doubles the manufacturing capability of the Container Terminal, and considerably improves the port’s competitiveness.

“The unloading of the cranes and their set up at Pier 6 is anticipated to be accomplished inside 7 days, whereas they’re estimated to be delivered in totally purposeful and operational capability in early July this 12 months”, acknowledged the Managing Director – CEO of ThPA S.A., Franco Nicola Cupolo.
