The Baltic Alternate’s dry bulk sea freight index snapped a 13-session shedding streak on Tuesday, as positive factors in panamax outweighed losses within the capesize and supramax segments.

The general index, which elements in charges for capesize, panamax and supramax transport vessels, edged up 4 factors, or about 0.2%, to 2,035 factors.

The panamax index climbed 77 factors, or about 2.8% to 2,862 factors.

Common every day earnings for panamaxes, which often carry coal or grain cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, elevated $700 to $25,763.

The capesize index slipped 27 factors, or 1.9%, to 1,368 factors, its lowest since early February.

Common every day earnings for capesizes, which usually transport 150,000 tonne cargoes resembling iron ore and coal, decreased by $218 to $11,348.

The supramax index dropped 25 factors to 2,448 factors.
