The Baltic Trade’s predominant sea freight index rose to a close to six-week excessive on Wednesday, helped by larger charges for capesize and panamax segments.

The general index, which elements in charges for capesize, panamax and supramax delivery vessels, rose 73 factors, or 3%, to 2,485 factors, the very best since March 25.

The capesize index rose 172 factors, or 8%, to 2,319 factors.

Common each day earnings for capesizes, which generally transport 150,000-tonne cargoes resembling iron ore and coal, elevated $1,431 to $19,235.

The panamax index gained 58 factors, or about 2%, to three,013 factors.

Common each day earnings for panamaxes, which often carry coal or grain cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, rose $525 to $27,116.

Tunisia’s state grains company has issued a global tender to buy an estimated 100,000 tonnes of sentimental wheat and 75,000 tonnes of animal feed barley, European merchants mentioned on Wednesday.

The supramax index was down 1 level at 2,732 factors.
