China starts its first autonomous boxship service

China’s first independent containership joined solution this thirty days. After months of considerable studies, the 300 teu
Zhi Fei, handled by Navigation Brilliance (Brinav) had been placed into procedure by Shandong Port Group on a short-sea route between Dongjiakou and Qingdao in east Shandong province.

The Zhi Fei, or Flying Wisdom, will, not only is it useful for regular cargo sailings, act as a technology demonstrator to guage the feasibility of integrating independent cruising ability on a wider number of locally-built commercial vessels. If effective, Navigation Brilliance promises to purchase bigger independent boxships within the number of 500 to 800 teu.
